The Constitutional Litigation, Appeals, and Sentencing Project (CLASP) is a one-semester program in which students will earn a total of seven credits.

Students in CLASP will be able to will satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Upper-level writing requirement
  2. All six credits of the experiential-learning requirement

They will also be required to take a one-credit co-requisite seminar.

Casework 

CLASP's docket includes complex post-conviction cases from the Wisconsin Innocence Project, the Federal Appeals Project, the Criminal Appeals Project, and the Legal Assistance to Institutionalized Persons Project.

Students

CLASP is ideal for students interested in pursuing: 

Students will develop and acquire important transferable skills such as legal research and writing, litigation strategy, and client counseling. 

Applying

This one-semester education will be available exclusively in the Summer and Fall semesters. There are no prerequisites. Students must apply to participate. CLASP will give preference to students who have not already participated in any other UW Law school clinical programs.
