2011 Wisconsin Act 173 shifts authority for suspending a person’s driver’s license from the courts to the Department of Transportation (DOT) when that person commits a failure-to-yield violation that causes injury or death to another. It further prescribes that the required traffic safety course that the violator must complete to reinstate his or her license contain at least 30 minutes of instruction on motorcycle, bicycle, and pedestrian awareness.
