Summer Access to LexisNexis and Westlaw

It is the policy of LexisNexis and Westlaw to restrict summer access to those not involved in law school activities. Full access will resume August 1st. If you will be doing law-school related research, however, you may request full access to both databases by registering before the end of May. Instructions follow. LexisNexis To register, go to LexisNexis and click on the Summer Access graphic (on right). If you do not register, your LexisNexis law school ID will be limited to only career materials as of June 1, 2007. You must verify that you will be doing one of the following:

  • Summer School (includes Clinics)
  • School-Related Research Assignment
  • Moot Court Research
  • Law Review or Journal research (includes 1Ls writing on)
  • Working as a Professor's Research Assistant
  • Non-Profit Externship (includes Public Interest position)
  • Unpaid Internship/Externship (or small stipend)

  • Anything involving class credit
Westlaw To register, click on the "Need Summer Access" link on the right when you sign-on to Westlaw. (Login, hit the link in the lower right hand column and follow the directions.) To be granted full access, you must be doing one of the following things this summer:
  • taking summer classes
  • law review or journal work
  • research for law faculty
  • moot court competition
  • unpaid public interest intern/externships (this excludes working for state or local governments or the courts)
