For the past few years, the only access to Russian laws in English for Law Library users has been through Garant, a Russian legislative information service available via LexisNexis.

Until recently, the Law Library's other main database of Russian legal information, Kodeks, provided only Russian language information. Now, Kodeks has added English language content as well.

Kodeks is a database of legislation and legal documents from Russia, including the republics, regions and territories of the Russian Federation. It includes legislative acts issued by approximately 200 executive, legislative, and judicial branches of Russia.

While recent content is still exclusively in Russian, the user can now access archives on translated laws in English from 1971-2008. From the Home Page, click on "English Version, Archive 1971 - April 2008" at the bottom of the screen.

From there, legislation and other documents can be browsed by topic (i.e. "Public law,"  "Civil and Commercial Law", etc.) or searched in English by typing in the box in the upper left hand corner of the initial screen for the English language archives. Note that although the search box is indicated in Russian, it recognizes English for purposes of searching.
