Rep. James Sensenbrenner visited the University of Wisconsin Law School
in April to participate in the ongoing series, “What I’m Doing with my
Law Degree.”
In an interview-style presentation with Dean
Raymond, the congressman offered highlights from a 45-year career in
politics that began with his election to the state assembly in 1968, the
same year he graduated from the Law School. Sensenbrenner went on to
serve in the state legislature until his 1979 election to the U.S. House
of Representatives, where he now represents Wisconsin’s 5th District.
Many
of the law students, faculty and staff in attendance—who had the
opportunity to pose questions—sought advice for students considering
careers in politics. Below, watch excerpts from Sensenbrenner’s
presentation in the video, “5 Tips for Law Students Starting in
Politics.”
