Law School's moot court teams excel in competition

Congratulations to the following moot court teams for earning honors at competitions across the country:

Jessup International Moot Court team
Wang Zhang, Jeremy Lyon, Sarah Markham,
Marcel Oliveira and Nora Leerhsen.

  • Marcel Oliveira (3L), Jeremy Lyon (3L), Wang Zhang (2L), Nora Leerhsen (2L) and Sarah Markham (3L) were quarterfinalists in the regional Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, held in Chicago, Ill. The team ranked second overall in the preliminary rounds, where they won 4-0 in their arguments. In the oralist competition, Marcel Oliveira placed third, and Jeremy Lyon placed tenth. Faculty coaches included Richard Bilder, Sumudu Atapattu, Heinz Klug, Alexandra Huneeus, Jason Yackee and Mullen Dowdal.
  • Monica Wedgewood (2L), Kevin Van Ert (2L) and Emily Tremblay (3L) reached the quarterfinals and placed third for their brief at the Weschler First Amendment Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C. Anuj Desai served as moot court advisor, with assistance from Jason Yackee.
  • John Healy (2L), Mike Boshardy (2L) and Mark Samartino (3L) finished strongly in the quarterfinals at the Chicago Bar Association Moot Court competition in Chicago. Peter Carstensen served as advisor, and David Schwartz, Brad Snyder and Mullen Dowdal helped prepare the team.
  • Andrew Westgate (3L) received second best oralist award in the preliminary rounds of the National Entertainment Law Moot Court competition at Pepperdine University School of Law. Mullen Dowdal served as team advisor.
