The University of Wisconsin Law School is pleased to announce the addition of its newest faculty members: Professor Jonathan Lipson, and Assistant Professor Susannah Camic.
Professor Lipson will teach courses on contracts, commercial law, and bankruptcy, including a deal-based simulation. Lipson comes to UW from Temple University's James E. Beasley School of Law, where he taught from 2004 - 2010. He previously taught at the University of Baltimore School of Law and the Northeastern University School of Law, and as a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Lipson has published more than two dozen scholarly articles and book chapters, including articles in the Boston University Law Review, Minnesota Law Review, Notre Dame Law Review, Ohio State Law Journal, Southern California Law Review, UCLA Law Review, Washington University Law Quarterly, and Wisconsin Law Review. He earned his J.D. from the UW Law School, where he was a Note and Comment Editor on the Wisconsin Law Review. Before becoming a professor, Lipson practiced corporate and commercial law in New York with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, and Kirkland & Ellis, and in Boston with Hill & Barlow. He has held a number of leadership positions with the American Bar Association, and was most recently appointed to the Council of the Business Law Section.
Professor Camic will teach courses on tax law and policy. Before coming to UW, Camic practiced in the tax group in the Washington, DC office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where she focused on administrative, controversy, and policy matters. Camic received her B.A. magna cum laude in economics and ethics, politics and economics from Yale University, where she also received an M.A. in political science as a Sterling Prize Fellow. She received her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was executive editor of the Yale Journal on Regulation. Camic has published in the Pittsburgh Tax Review and the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics, and was the 2006 recipient of the Clifford L. Porter Prize for the best paper on taxation by a student at Yale Law School.
Professor Lipson will teach Bankruptcy this fall, and Professor Camic will teach Taxation I.
