Cameron Marston, Kaitlin Kelly and Thomas Wilson
Law students Cameron Marston and Thomas Wilson took first place in the UCLA Cyber Crimes Moot Court Competition, held in Los Angeles, March 20 and 21.
The second-year students competed against 13 other teams to win the competition. Kaitlin Kelly, a third-year student, served as their coach.
Each year, UW Law School’s moot court program sends teams to competitions around the country. Competitors, also known as “mooters,” work on teams to write briefs on a variety of legal topics and prepare oral arguments as if they were appearing before an appellate court.
Other teams earning honors for UW Law this year include:
- Nicholas Sideras (3L): Best Oralist, UNC Craven Moot Court.
- Laura Davis (3L) and Nicholas Sideras (3L), coached by Mike Ullman (3L), advanced to quarterfinals, UNC Craven Moot Court.
- Daniel Yousaf (3L), 3rd Best Oralist, Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition.
- David Edelblute (2L), Brian Goodman (2L), Steven McCarthy (3L) and William Rutherford (2L), 3rd Best Oralists, Tulane Sports Law Moot Court Competition.
Professors Steph Tai and Adam Stevenson are faculty advisors for the Law School’s moot court program.
