Professor Cecelia Klingele has been elected to the American Law Institute, an independent U.S. organization that produces scholarly work to clarify, modernize and otherwise improve the law. Made up of over 4000 lawyers, judges and law professors of the highest qualifications, ALI drafts, discusses, revises and publishes restatements of the law, model statutes and principles of law that are enormously influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in scholarship and legal education.

“As associate reporter for the Model Penal Code: Sentencing revision, I have been privileged to work closely with the institute and its members over the past two years, and have been uniformly impressed with their knowledge of the law and desire to improve it,” said Klingele. “I look forward to continuing my work on the Model Penal Code, and to participating in future projects in the years to come.”

Klingele’s scholarly research focuses on criminal justice administration, with an emphasis on community supervision of offenders on conditional release. She teaches courses in criminal law, constitutional criminal procedure, criminal justice administration and sentencing and corrections.
