Megan Phillips 3L is recipient of 2009 Leonard Loeb Scholarship Award

Third-year University of Wisconsin Law School student Megan A. Phillips has been named the recipient of the 2009 Leonard Loeb Family Law Scholarship. The award recognizes a law student who has shown academic excellence and a strong commitment to the field of family law.

The Loeb Scholarship was created by the family of the late Leonard Loeb, a 1952 graduate of the UW Law School. Loeb served as President of the State Bar of Wisconsin and demonstrated a lifetime commitment to community service and family law.

Megan Phillips has been active with numerous service projects, including the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF), the Family Court Assistance Project, Madison AIDS Network, and Legal Association for Women Mentoring Program, and has been a judicial intern and a law clerk.

Prior to entering law school, Phillips graduated from UW-Madison with majors in journalism and psychology, and went on to be a legal assistant and litigation specialist before beginning her Law School career.

The Loeb scholarship award of $5,000 is administered through the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML).

Phillips will receive the award officially at the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Awards Luncheon in Chicago on November 6, 2009.
