Law School announces hire of Eric Salisbury as Director of Development

Eric Salisbury joined the staff of the University of Wisconsin Foundation on November 2, 2009, as the new Director of Development for the Law School.

Salisbury brings more than a decade of experience in the field of fund-raising and development, most recently as Vice President for Development at Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, where he doubled corporate giving in only two years and recognized 15 to 20 percent increases in annual giving each year.

Salisbury holds a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Business, where he specialized in non-profit management through the Bolz Center for Arts Administration. His previous positions include Executive Director of Madison Youth Choirs, Managing Director of Jubilee Theatre (Fort Worth, Texas), and Program Staff Advisor for the UW Memorial Union. He also founded the Arts Administration program at Texas Christian University (where he received his undergraduate degree) and taught as an adjunct professor there for three years.

Salisbury was chosen after a thorough search process that yielded several top-flight candidates, says Law School Dean Kenneth B. Davis, Jr.

Davis comments, “When we began our search with the UW Foundation for a new Director of Development to complete our administrative team and work with us on some exciting new projects, we felt that it was most important to hire a development professional -- and that’s what we found in Eric. I've been extremely impressed by his qualifications, his enthusiasm for the Law School, and his history of creative and successful approaches to helping donors find the right way to support organizations that hold significance for them.”

Salisbury adds, “I look forward to applying my passion for UW and the development skills I have honed to help the Law School reach its goal of being recognized as both ‘public and preeminent.’ I am overwhelmed by the impact that the Law School is having on its students, on the campus, and in the communities that its clinics and alumni serve.  I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the efforts to expand that reach.  The Law School has many far-reaching goals and aspirations, and I can't wait to get started on helping all of us to realize them.”

Salisbury lives in Madison with his wife Andrea, a Professor of Dance at UW-Madison, and their two children.
