Program Description

The Law School's Individualized Instruction Service (IWIS) provides help with writing to any law student, at any ability level. The IWIS offers writing instruction tailored to each student's learning style and focused on each student's particular writing concerns.

Services Available:

  • Individual Conferences - address your questions and concerns about writing, large or small, in a confidential setting; and

  • Group Workshops - learn more about topics of interest, such as improving writing samples or reorganizing for greater persuasion, in workshops for students scheduled throughout the year.

The Writing Center

For students needing additional help with basic writing skills, the University of Wisconsin's Writing Center offers free workshops and classes on grammar, punctuation, and basic sentence/paragraph structure. Classes, which include titles such as Four Weeks to Better Grammar and Perfecting Your Punctuation, are offered at a variety of times. The Writing Center also provides links to on-line writing resources.
