Exam4 vs. Securexam- major differences

The new exam software has some marked differences from Securexam.

1. The installation has a much lighter impact on the host system.
  • There is no "installation" in a traditional sense. The file that is extracted and placed on your desktop is the exam program. If you delete that file, you will delete the exam software and you'll have to reinstall. (This isn't a big deal, just re-download the software.)
2. You need to know your Exam ID.
  • The latest versions Securexam for Windows had a built in function that populated the Exam ID for Windows users. The new software does not have that function. To look up your Exam ID, go to http://law.wisc.edu/help/my.php
3. The choice of classes may be a long list.
  • Securexam had a structure that allowed class information to be tied to your exam ID and login. However, the new software does not provide that functionality. This means that each exam "season" there will be a new version of the exam software with the classes and list of exams embedded in it. You will need to download the exam software each exam period. (midterms, finals, etc.)
Even though there are some differences in the exam software, we are very excited to hear positive feedback; we anticipate fewer issues in all aspects of usage- from questions about how to begin an exam to issues with crashes while taking exams.
