Mediation Clinic

Info for Students

Goals of the Mediation Clinic

One major goal of the Mediation Clinic is to improve the students’ ability to represent clients effectively by improving listening, questioning, persuasion and problem-solving skills through the context of mediation. The Clinic also provides a solid basis for those students who would like to make mediation a part of their legal practice and the mediation training can also help foster a collaborative problem-solving orientation to the students’ future practice of law. Finally, students will learn to evaluate the benefits and limitations of mediation and other dispute resolution processes so they can both counsel their future clients about their choices and, as potential policy makers, make informed judgments about dispute resolution systems design.

For more information about the Mediation Clinic, please contact Professor Donna Erez-Navot at erez@wisc.edu or (608) 262-4870.
