Course Description

This seminar will be beneficial to anyone who will come in contact with crime victims. The class will examine the role of victims in the legal system from the initial response of the police to pre-trial discovery, plea negotiations, trial, sentencing and appeal. The course will examine the history of victims’ rights, the role of victims in the criminal justice system, and the practical impact of victims’ rights legislation and constitutional amendments on the court system.
