Marketing Yourself

Most legal employers expect that job application materials include, at a minimum, a cover letter and a résumé. Many also require a transcript and a writing sample. Because most employers base their interview decisions solely on these written documents -- and because generally employers take only 30-45 seconds to review an application -- it is vitally important that you take the time to make sure each component demonstrates clearly your unique qualifications.

This site gives you information about developing the various components of your job application. If you have any individual questions about your cover letter, résumé, writing sample, or thank-you letter, please feel free to consult with one of the advisors in the Career Services Office.
