Overview of the Process

We use an Internet-based software program known as "Symplicity" for the fall OCI program. Almost everything that you need to do in connection with fall OCI, you will do on-line, via the Symplicity system, which can be found at https://law-wisc-csm.symplicity.com/students.  To get access to Symplicity, you need a username and password. Your username is your email address.  If you do not know your password, please click on the "Forgot My Password" tab on the Symplicity home page, and (assuming the email address you enter is the same as the one you have in your student profile on Symplicity), you'll receive an email message resetting your password. If that does not work, send an email message to tfillbach@wisc.edu, nmdenow@wisc.edu, or kemcmahan@wisc.edu.  Your Symplicity username and password for the fall OCI program are the same ones you received in the fall of your first year of law school, which you use to access our Job Bank; but they are DIFFERENT from the username and password that you received if you participated in any of the Off-Campus Recruitment Programs (New York, D.C., and/or West Coast Off-Campus Recruitment Programs) or any other off-campus job fair that utilizes Symplicity.

We divide fall OCI into "phases."   In fall 2012, fall OCI will begin before fall semester classes begin.  Phase One consists of the employers who will be interviewing here on August 21 through August 24.    Phase Two consists of the employers who will be interviewing here the week of August 27.  Phase Three consists of the employers who will be interviewing on September 6 and 7.  Phase Four consists of all employers who will be interviewing here during the week of September 10th.  Phase Five consists of all employers who will be interviewing here during the week of September 17, 2012, or anytime thereafter.

To see a list of all employers who are scheduled to participate in fall OCI in 2012, click on the heading "List of Fall 2012 OCI Employers" after about July 1st.  Additional employers will almost certainly be registering after July 1, so be sure to look at this list several times over the course of the summer.

To indicate that you would like to interview with any of the employers who are participating in fall OCI, you must do two things: 1) you must upload your resume into Symplicity; and 2) enter a "bid" for that employer, through the Symplicity system, by the "bidding deadline" for that employer (more on that below).  The seven phases, and their corresponding bidding and résumé-upload deadlines, are as follows:

Phase
Bid Period
Interview Dates
One July 29 - Aug.  6
August 21 through 24
Two July 29- Aug. 13

August 27 through August 31
Three July 29 -  Aug. 21
September 6 and 7

Four July 29 - Aug. 29
September 10 - 14
Five
July 29 - Various bidding deadlines
September 17 and thereafter

On the day after each bidding period expires, the Career Services Office sends, to the employers participating in that phase, resumes (and any other application materials the employer has requested) of all the students who have bid to interview with those employers. The employers then have a few days to review the resumes and select the students they would most like to interview, as well as several alternates. When we receive selections from the employers participating in a "phase," we enter those selections into the Symplicity system, and then students who have entered bids receive an email message asking them to log on to Symplicity to find out whether any employers have selected them for interviews. If you are selected for an interview by one or more employers for that phase, it is your responsibility to go to that employer's interview schedule in the Symplicity system and sign up for an interview time.
