Final Draft: April 24, 2012
The goal of the
Lawyering Skills Course is to explain and test real world skills that new lawyers
are expected to demonstrate in the early years of their practice. An experienced and accomÂplished
faculty of approximately 70 practicing lawyers uses a structured core skills
curriculum to teach our students.
This 7-credit pass-fail
course is offered only in the Spring semester. Any student who has completed the first year may enroll, but
space may be limited.
To receive seven credits, students must: attend class, excused only for exceptional cause; complete all written assignments, typically two or three each week; and participate in assigned role simulations. Attendance during designated Skills Intensive Weekend is absolutely mandatory; students who cannot attend class on the Friday/Saturday as scheduled should not register for the course.
